Breaking into Comedy Scriptwriting for TV with Ferdia MacAnna and Eddie Doyle

THIS COURSE IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

Comedy writing is hard to sell, especially in a changed industry where Moone Boy sets the bar high and Mrs Browne’s Boys attracts a record audience. This one-day course will workshop script formatting, treatments, pitching, and writing funny for sitcoms, sketch comedy and comedy drama. You’ll also get a chance to discuss your ideas with RTÉ’s head of comedy, Eddie Doyle, who will be joining the workshop.

Ferdia MacAnna is a novelist, screenwriter and TV producer/director. He has produced and directed many TV programmes including Don’t Feed the Gondolas, Upwardly Mobile and the BAFTA-winning Custer’s Last Stand Up. Eddie Doyle is the Head of Comedy, Talent Development and Music Production at RTÉ with a background in production and management of factual and current affairs documentary and print journalism (max. 14 participants).
