Introduction to Playwriting with Michelle Read

Want to write for theatre or need a refresher? This course introduces the ‘nuts and bolts’ of dramatic writing through examples, discussion and practical exercises. Participants create and develop an idea for a play and submit finished scenes for critical feedback. There will be a follow on, intermediate course in spring 2015 for those who wish to develop their ideas.

Michelle Read is a Dublin-based playwright. Her production awards include the Hugh Leonard Bursary and the Eamon Keane Full Length Play Award, the Stewart Parker/BBC Northern Ireland Drama Award and a Fringe First. She holds a Master’s Degree in Dramaturgy and has taught creative and dramatic writing for several organisations including the Gaiety School of Acting and Big Smoke Writing Factory.
