Duration: 8 Weeks

Cost: €220/€200 Members

This course is aimed at those who want to write but don’t know how to start. It should also be useful for people who have done some writing already but who would benefit from the discipline of a class. The course focuses on the short story and the novel formats. Participants can work towards completing a short story or the first chapters of a novel.

“I just want to thank you for sharing some of your knowledge and expertise over the weeks. It has been really enjoyable and insightful.”
—Sylvia Farrell

John Maher has won both the Francis McManus Short Story Award (RTÉ) and the PJ O’Connor Radio Play Award (RTÉ). His novel, The Luck Penny (2007), won the Arts Council of Ireland’s largest literary award, the Lar Cassidy Award. His stories have been broadcast on RTÉ and BBC.
