SVETLA GEORGIEVA
Artist, author of short stories, poet, singer. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Svetla Georgieva graduated from the Sofia Arts Academy specializing in Graphic Arts. She had 21 one-man exhibitions both in Bulgaria and abroad among which are her exhibitions in Sofia, Prague, Warsaw, Paris, the Netherlands. She also joint numerous appearances in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Sweden, France, etc. She has worked in the area of graphic arts and graphic design. Her pieces are owned by numerous art galleries – the National Fine Art Gallery in Sofia, Sofia City Art Gallery, most of the regional city galleries in Bulgaria and are a part of numerous private collections in Bulgaria and abroad.
Svetla Georgieva is an author of poetry and fiction. Among her publications are the volumes of poetry “A She-Wolf in the Temple”, “Non-Drunken Sea”, “Stars and Weeds”, as well as numerous short stories in collections and in the press.
Svetla Georgieva composes and performs songs based on her own poems. Since 1995 she has been carrying out one-man performances in Bulgaria along with author concerts in the Netherlands (1995), Poland (1997, 1999 and 2009), Paris (2000, 2011), Tunisia (2002, 2003 and 2005), Berlin (2011), Budapest (2011).
She had produced two CDs containing ballads with her own lyrics, music and vocals – “Stars and Weeds” (1996) and “Pterodactyl” (2009).
In 2003 Svetla Georgieva won the Audience Award at the 3rd National Author Song Festival held in Lovech, performing songs based on her own poems.
She is also a laureate of the Bulgarian Union of Writers’ Song Lyrics Award at the 5th National Author Song Festival held in Lovech in 2005.
She is a winner of the Grand Author Song Prize at the Chudomir Festivities (2006, Kazanlak)
She is a Comic Song Award winner at the Bulgarian Bard Festival (Sofia, 2007).
She is a winner of the Bulgarian national poetry competition Poetry close to the stars – 2008.
Svetla Georgieva is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers and a Member of the European Culture Parliament.
