In celebration of World Book Day, the Irish Writers' Centre invited all interested parties through its doors to experience an array of free events and activities for an Open House. Here is the timetable:
12.00pm Inkslingers creative writing session led by Andrew McEneff. This is a structured hour where participants will be given a series of writing prompts and critique. Suitable for all levels of experience and an excellent way to meet other writers.
1pm Lunchtime Poetry Readings with acclaimed poets Peter Sirr, Jean O' Brien, Gerald Dawe, Richard Halperin, Aifric Mac Aodha and Paul Perry.
3pm Film screening of James Joyce's The Dead followed by a discussion of the short story and film. This will be the first of a series of Madaptations which will be held at the Centre, showcasing films that have been based on books and discussing how the two compare.
7pm a dramatic performance by Peter Duffy of The Great Hunger by Patrick Kavanagh. |
