Emma Walsh has over ten years experience in the publishing industry in Ireland and through her business, Walsh Communications, provides creative and effective consultancy services to publishers and writers in the magazine and book industry in Ireland and the UK. Emma also operates a small but highly successful literary agency that last year saw three of its writers reach the top ten bestsellers list in Ireland.
The publishing consultancy side of the business provides energetic, commercial and expert advice on all areas of publishing to both writers and publishers. Some of the services offered include; Book Publicity Campaigns, Author Care & Book Tours, Publishing Industry Advice & Consultation and Manuscript Assessment and Appraisal. The literary agency represents bright, emerging Irish literary talent worldwide. Emma is agent for Michael Murphy, the renowned RTE Newscaster whose much acclaimed memoir ‘At Five in the Afternoon’ reached number two in the bestsellers list last year. She also represents popular fiction author Fiona Cassidy, whose debut novel reached number six in the charts, and whose second novel ‘Anyone One for Me?’ (due out in August) looks set to eclipse the massive success of the first. |
Emma is a Committee Member of The Society of Publishers in Ireland and an Associate Member of The Irish Book Publishers' Association. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy, a Master of Arts in American Literature and Modern English (both from University College Dublin) and an IAPI Diploma in Advertising. She has reviewed books for print and radio, written for national newspapers and magazines and regularly gives talks and workshops on various industry-related topics. |
