The Lonely Voice: Short Story Introductions

At the Irish Writers’ Centre we are committed to supporting writers at every stage of their development.  With this in mind, we are delighted to present a monthly event for emerging writers.

The Lonely Voice: Short Story Introductions will take place on the last Wednesday of every month.  Up to four short story writers will be selected and invited to read their work at the event.  We are particularly interested in providing a platform for emerging writers, who previously may not have had the opportunity to read their work in public.

The winners of the May Lonely Voice are: David Cahill, Elizabeth Reapy, Cathy Sweeny and Pat O'Connor. They will read their winning stories on Thursday 27th May and the event is free, so come along to hear the very best of this month's submissions.

The competition is ongoing and if you've missed this month, don't worry. There's always next month! We will be taking a short break as we close the Centre for the summer and the next competition will now be September. The deadline for submission for the September event is the Friday 27th August. Please send the short story you would like to read (max 3,000 words and limited to one entry per person per month) and a short bio to: thelonelyvoice@gmail.com. Please attach bios and stories seperately and make sure they are in .doc format. Your name should not appear on the story.
